Mohare Khopra Trek

Annapurna Base Camp trek is outstanding hiking where you need 2 weeks in Nepal for the package. The santuary of Annapurna is surrounded by mighty Himalaya. This trek IS equally fascinate for either experienced hiker or amateur walker. The vistas from Annapurna base camp and panaromic views from Poonhill are the best highlight of the ABC trek. The trek for ABC will start from By-road or flight to Pokhara a beautiful lakeside city quite close to the annapurna range. The view will take your breath away. We will start at Nayapul and go as far as Tikhedhunga on first day 3/4 hours. Then we will take step up to Ghorepani. Next morning we will go Poonhill which is our highlight. We can see stunning view of the Mt. Dhaulagiri(7th highest mountain of the World), Annapurna range, fistail, Ghorepani and Poonhill is a rhododendron forest area. In february, March and April the rhododendron will be blooming. Decend to tadapani si quite long and steep so we will take a day, through the farming countryside. Continually our ABC trek will head to Chhomrung Village (2170 meter). Where we will stay overnight. Next day our trek starts to Himalaya (2920) and after some day we will be at Annapurna Base Camp (4130) which is our destination of this trip. Day by day we will take you low altitude to high altitude because of avoiding altitude sickness. On the same day before getting to ABC we will exploreMBC. After spending night there, the next day we will trek back to Pokhara crossing beautiful village like, Bamboo(2345), Jhinu (hot spring) (1780) walking towards high altitude to low altitude well be easy so we can get Pokhara within 3 days walking, from Machhapuchhre Base Camp. From ABC we can see beautiful moutains like, Fishtail, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Baraha Shikakhar, Singu Chuli, Gangapurna and Tent peak.

ABC trek Itinary
Day 1: Pokhara to Banskarka (1020m): Leave Pokhara for a 3.5 hour drive along the Kali Gandaki river to Ghumaune Lake. The trail head is in Ghumaune Lake (900m). From Galeshwor it is a 3 hour hike to Banskarka.
Day 2: Baskharka (1020m) to Nangi (2260m): Depart Banskarka for a 3 hour hike to Dandakateri (1570m), where you stop for lunch in a community dining hall. It is an additional 3 hours from Dandakateri to Nangi.
Day 3: Nangi (2260m) to Mohare Danda (3300m): Depart Nangi for a 4 hour hike to Hampal Danda (3000m), where you stop to take packed lunch. Hike an additional 3.5 hours to Mohare Danda.
Day 4: Mohare Danda (3300m) to Tikot (2060m): Wake up in the predawn morning to see the sunrise with a panoramic himalayan backdrop. Depart Mohare Danda for a 6 hour walk to Tikot. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 5: Tikot (2250m) to Khibang (2060m): Depart Tikot for a 4 hour hike to Khibang. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 6: Khibang (2060m) to Swanta (2270m): Depart Khibang for a 3.5 hour hike to Swanta. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 7: Swanta (2270m) to Dhankharka (3026m): Depart Swanta for a 4 hour hike to Dhankharka. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 8: Dhankharka (3026m) to Khopra Danda (3660m): Depart Dhankharka for a 5 hour hike to Dhankharka. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 9: * Khopra Danda (3660m) day trip to Khayar Lake (4500m): Spend two nights at Khopra Danda and take a 7.5 hour day trip to Khayar Lake.
Day 10: Khopra Danda (3660m) to Paudwar (2000m): Depart Khopra Danda for a 4 hour hike to Paudwar. Along the way, stop for a packed lunch.
Day 11: Paudwar (2000m) to Tatopani (840m): Depart Paudwar for a 2.5 hour hike to Tatopani. Take lunch once in Tatopani.
Day 12: Tatopani (840m) to Pokhara: Leave Tatopani for a 5 hour drive along the Kali Gandai river to Pokhara.

How difficult is ABC trek?

According to the difficulty of this trek, it is very moderate and don’t demand advanced physical fitness levels so anyone can enjoy and takes pleasure in nature walking during this trek.those family who wants to take their children they can also this trek. Trekking ACB trek via Ghorepani allow your body to get adapted and acclimatized with high altitude. Visitor having previous trekking experience with fit body can trek it in within short period of time .the highest elevation is 4130 meter from sea level where we reach.

When to trek?

From mid September to November (autumn) and March to may(spring) are the best season to trek to ABC trek. June to August (monsoon) is the rainy season but some time has clean sky.during the hike , it offers grand spectacle of blooming rhododendron flower during month of March.view from poonhill looks brilliant like , Mt. dhoulagiri (8167),Annapurna (8091)fishtail and other many mountain at the highlights of this trek you will climb poon hill at dawn to enjoy one of the best brilliant Mountain View on the earth. If you want to avoid crowd then it is recommended to trek in winter (December to February). The temperature is cold in the morning but not unbearable and it is warm during day hike and clean sky and good view in the day.

How about accommodations?

About accommodations in ABC trek, in lower elevations lodge provides quilts, blanket and single room but as we go higher towards ABC , there are limited lodge and trekkers are expected to have good sleeping bag and there is no possible to get single room so we need to share the room to others.

Do I need any extra documents?

Bring a copy of your travel insurance , a copy of your passport and 3 photo ( passports size) with you for your trip in Nepal . You would need photo for permits .

What sort of food can I expect in trekking?

Most tea house trails cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian fare, pasta, tuna baked, noodles , potatoes , eggs, dasl bhat( rice and lentils), bread, soup, fresh vegetables and even some dessert like apple pies, pancake , and some interesting attempts at custard. You will find a lot of garlic on the menu because it assists with acclimatization, eat some every day. In many village you can find some meat item on manu. Each day dinner and breakfast will be at the lodge you will stay at while for the lunch you would be stopping by on the way where you can order your meals as per your choice. Guide will help you to stop by at best possible place to eat.

Is the food in mountain prepared to international standard in terms of safety?

Yes, the food is very save during the trekking and we recommend you to eat the vegetarian and local food.please follow the suggestion of our guide on the trek

I am a vegetarian, is that a problem?

No problems at all because mostly, the lodge serves the vegetarian meals. We always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid the food poisoning, eating heavy meals and non vegetarian meals at the high altitude is not safe for the stomach.

What is the drinking water facilities in the mountain?

Bottle of water is easily available at the lodge and tea house till Chhomrom, which you can buy at the $2 at the lower elevations and $ 4 to higher elevations per litter. Above Chhomrom you have to purify water or buy purified bottle water as the plastic are banned by Annapurna conservation area therefore they don’t sell plastic bottles mineral water. If you are planning to drinks normal water all the way during trek, purifying water with any sort of purifying tablets or drop is must.

What opportunities will I have for shower along the trek?

In major place , we arrange guesthouse with proper running shower , which is not possible at machhapuchare base camp and Annapurna base camp so in these place , water in the bucket will be provided For the shower at the cost of $ 2 to $4 per bucket .

How much additional money do I need per day?

It depends on your spending habits , generally in Kathmandu and Pokhara you can allocate $ 10 to $15 for lunch and a dinner . $ 30 to $30 per person a day will be enough to buy meals , bottle of water , chocolate, pay for the hot shower Andrew drinks during the trekking.

Can I use credit cards in the places I visit in trekking ?

In Kathmandu and Pokhara , yes .. to some extent . Once you are out of city , all you need is cash. Please change the currency in local Nepali rupees before you go to the mountain.

What if I am very sick in the mountain?

Our guides are 24 hours available for the services during the trek.they are trained to use first aid kit and have knowledge to use oxy meter.they are very much aware that higher the altitude the oxygen level gets lesser do to get updated on the oxygen level of our client and to know whether they are fit enough or need a extra precaution to continue . Guide carry local SIM card both Nepal telecom and Ncell in order to update whereabouts and situation of our every Clint . During the time of emergency our guides are alerts and keeps updated to head office in Kathmandu that is available 24/7 to arranging from horse to mules or helicopter in the must needed cases . Especially when Clint is seriously sick in the mountain and needed to be hospitalized.
